Some Mcdonalds restaurants in Australia are selling something the fast food giants are calling “lettuce Wraps.” Also known as a lettuce bun, this is a burger that has had its traditional bun replaced by two pieces of lettuce.
It part of McDonald’s “build your burger” contest, which is held in places like Australia, however the contest is not available in the U.S. People can custom design their own burgers and try them out at participating restaurants. People also have the ability to design a burger online to try and win prizes, ranging in free meals at McDonald’s all the way to vacations in places like Thailand and Sydney.
People select various ingredient options and assemble them using the McDonald’s “create your taste” online option. The bun choices include the lettuce wrap, along with a total of 31 other ingredients to choose from.
McDonald’s shows the most creative designs on its website, along with the name of the designer. Some of the favorite designs include a Big Mac that uses tortilla chips inside of it, a Dagwood-style burger stacked with bacon and eggs. There was even a favorite for a sandwich of cheese, tomato chilli jam, guacamole and sliced beetroots, the burger included no actual meat.
