Well ya know, there are certainly a LOT of collectors out there, but who would think of collecting hamburger memorabilia? So many different things are collected around the world, but how many collectors ever go so far overboard?
We know of just one. That eccentric, lovable collector is Hamburger Harry. He’s a hard working, fun-loving, German (NO, not from Hamburg, Germany!) living in Florida who is addicted to hamburgers. Not eating them, just the idea of hamburgers as Americana; the symbolism of freedom, fame and notoriety.
Hamburgers Galore!
Harry and friends joked about all the burgerbilia as being a Hamburger Museum. For a long time, it was the only known hamburger museum. When his record sized collection overcrowded his house, it became a world wide news story! The elaborate collection has been given significant international press and attention. So, as an international attraction, it now has to be referred to as The International Hamburger Hall of Fame (TIHHOF).
Attack of the Burgerbilia
Harry has frequently denied the press and hopeful visitors the privilege of seeing the massive collection, because it has been in his house. It’s time to move it out, and make the burger collection available to the public.
Movin’ On UP!
Hamburger Harry’s “hamburger museum” was not created as a business, and he has not made a dime from it. He has, in fact, spent many dimes on it though. Many, MANY dimes! Harry’s a hard worker and is not one to beg. The Web site you’re reading is an effort to raise funds for The International Hamburger Hall of Fame’s big move. There is also a GoFundMe campaign for his capital raising effort. Donations here and there hopefully will jump start the whole process.
It’ll take $50,000 per year in rent for a suitable sized location to house The International Hamburger Hall of Fame. On top of that, Harry will also incur other normal business operating expenses like salaries and utilities. Relocating the museum collection will be rather costly.
