Being a devoted burger enthusiast myself, it was always difficult for me to find somewhere local that I could have as my favorite go to burger joint. I’d been everywhere from gourmet restaurants to your average fast food restaurants and still I could not find one burger that really captured my heart. That is, until the day I finally discovered The Oyster Pub. It started just like any other normal day off from work: lounge around the house, go to a friend’s house and lounge around their house, waste some time browsing the internet. Until night time rolled around and my folks invited me to go out to eat with them at this local pub that their friends had mentioned and spoke highly about. So off we went, and I didn’t have the slightest clue on where to. As we arrived, I began to have second thoughts. The place seemed strange to me. A loud and pretty packed restaurant with small T.V.’s in the booths? At first it didn’t really seem like my cup of tea. “Let’s go somewhere else” I said to my mother, as my father stepped out for a minute to have a smoke break. I wasn’t even that hungry to start with, and I wasn’t in the mood to have to wait 45 minutes for our waitress to remember she was serving our table. But of course, my mother too stubborn to leave told me that we’re already here so we might as well sit down and order.
As I browsed through the menu, I immediately landed my attention on the sandwiches, burgers, and wraps section. I’m a simple person, so I already knew that all I wanted was a regular bacon cheeseburger with no veggies and no sauces. As I continued to browse, I also noticed they had a deliciously-looking crab legs section and my hunger began to intensify. “1 1/2 pounds of steamed Alaskan Snow Crab Legs with drawn butter, “I could totally go for that right now” I thought to myself. My mother too occupied by searching the menu and my father who just sat down at the table, peered over at me and asked if I knew what I wanted. “There’s no way you’re going to be able to finish both the crabs and the burger” he laughed. I looked at him and with a smile on my face, said “Watch me”. About five minutes later our waitress, a beautiful and kind young girl with a very bubbly personality, asked if we were ready to order. She scribbled down our orders, asked if there was anything else we needed, and off she went into the back kitchen. About fifteen minutes later she reappeared with my parents’ food and my Alaskan crab legs. Not wanting to risk being too full to finish my burger, I asked my folks if they wanted to try the legs but only my mother ate a few of them, which left me to finish them off on my own. After we were all finished eating, our waitress took our empty plates and informed me that my burger was almost ready. At this point, I was completely stuffed on crab legs and butter and had almost entirely forgotten I had even ordered something else. My father, looking over at me and laughing, reminded me again how there would be no way I could finish an entire burger after having just ate almost two pounds of huge crabs legs practically on my own.
A few minutes later our waitress reappears and this time she has with her a platter of bacon cheeseburger and french fry-y goodness. My eyes could have very well melted away the second she laid that platter down on the table. Sitting in front of me was a perfectly round beef patty, in between two of the most crispy looking pieces of bacon I have ever seen, laying above a beautifully melted slice of cheese, all held in together by two incredibly softly-toasted buns with more than a handful of warm, deliciously crunchy fries . It was like falling in love for the first time all over again except better, because this was a cheeseburger. Just from looking at it I could tell that this burger was drool worthy but it wasn’t until the second I took one bite that I could feel my soul leave my body. This was the greatest burger I had ever eaten in my entire burger-eating life time. I can’t imagine that I took longer than a mere ten minutes to finish it and I left my father utterly shocked but impressed. I knew I was definitely impressed but this burger wasn’t alone, the Alaskan Crab Legs had also very well caught my attention.
Overall, my experience at The Oyster Pub was a memorable one, and they definitely knows how to leave their customers wanting more. Even if you’re not exactly a hamburger type of person, their menu has such a large variety of different delicious foods that it’s almost impossible to pick just one…..so don’t feel shy about picking as many as you could possibly want! It could be the greatest decision you’ve ever made.
