Grind Gastropub & Kona Tiki Bar

February 5, 2016 by Danny O'Leary Leave a Comment

The Grind Gastropub and Tiki Bar is one of the newer additions to Ormond, and long story short, it’s fantastic. Gastropubs first made their appearance in the United Kingdom in the late 20th century. A traditional pub is mainly used as only a drinking establishment, with not much thought put into food or a meal, however in 1991 David Eyre and Mike Belben bought an old pub in London and decided to make the change. They offered the unique opportunity to enjoy all the amenities of a Pub and normal restaurant in one. Soon after, the concept of the Gastropub began to grow, and now such places can be found all over the country. Ormond is now one of the places that can be added to the list, as we now have our very own Gastropub, along with a Tiki Bar! The Grind promises to offer a truly unique experience to all who attend. Giving you the diversity of a neighborhood pub feel, along with the relaxation of a Tiki Bar.

gastropubThe Grind was honestly one of the best eating experiences I have had in a veryDisplaying FullSizeRender.jpg
long time, and there is no other way around it. Simply put, it was brilliant. I ordered their house burger and was noDisplaying FullSizeRender.jpgt Displaying FullSizeRender.jpgdisappointed in the least. They offer a half pound Black Angus Burger topped with a fried egg, bacon, an onion ring, and smothered with home made jalapeno cheese sauce, they know it is so good that they bring a side of the cheese sauce with the burger. Everything was delicious down to the fries, which were beautifully presented in a gourmet style spiral fry holder. The burger was constructed with care, it was enormous, but not a big mess. I was able to eat the entire thing by hand without having the entire burger collapse on itself, which was a feat in its own. They cooked it down to the seconds, no more, and no less then exactly how you asked for it. The service was fast and attentive, but at no point did we feel rushed, or forgotten. A perfect balance of care and privacy.

I could go back and order nothing but the same burger every time and be completely satisfied, however their menu is amazing, and diverse. Everything looks like something you would like to come back to try, and I can only imagine everything is as good as the last. The environment is amazing as well, they have unique art on all the walls and every room follows a theme. The Tiki area is surrounded by beautiful murals which are vibrant and a treat to look at. Live music will accompany you on most nights at the Tiki Bar, and full bar is at your disposal offering you every drink you could imagine. The Grind Gastropub and Tiki Bar truly does have something for everyone. Inside is a great place for a date night, or outside if you are looking to have a fun time with your friends and family. There is a casual bar inside if you would like to stop in for lunch, and they even offer a full brunch, lunch, and dinner menu option. I can do nothing but recommend this to everyone. If you are within 30 miles, its a worth it trip. If you are farther than that, then make plans and still come. Its that good.
