The Canadian National Exhibition starts on Friday, and like always, fun creative foods will be available to try. More commonly known as The Ex, this is an annual event that takes place in Toronto Canada. The CNE is Canada’s largest festival with approximately 1.3 million visitors each year. Created in 1879, the main purpose for the CNE was to promote agriculture and technology in Canada. Scientists, engineers, and even agriculturists can all exhibit their discoveries and inventions at the festival to showcase the work and talent brought by their nation. As Canada has continued to grow as a nation, the diversity and innovation of the CNE has also continued to grow and change over time, although agriculture and technology remain to play a large part of the CNE to this day. Families from all over the Greater Toronto Area, including surrounding communities, all believe The Canadian National Exhibition to be a great, annual family tradition.
, who has been at the CNE festival for many years, has crafted three new burgers to bring to this years CNE festival, and he is excited to see how people react. One of these new burgers is called “The Bad Boy” which showcases Japanese-spiced beef, with breaded chicken breast on a deep fried Jamaican patty; which acts as its bun. He hopes this along with his two other new burgers will bring joy to his loyal burger fans.
The S&M Burger – The first of Chef Benjamin’s new burgers is the S&M burger, which stands for spaghetti and meatball. The spaghetti is cooked and chopped while mixed together with mozzarella, formed into a patty, and then it is deep fried. The burger sits on a whole wheat or multi-grain bun that has been covered in a garlic spread. There’s a slice of spicy Havarti between the patties, along with a combination of homemade tomato sauce and Parmesan cheese on the top. The burger comes in three versions, “regular”for no changes, “kinky” for baked Jalapenos, and “XXX” for habaneros, and scotch bonnets.
The Bad Boy Burger – Known to capture the attention of most customers, the BBB is a double Jamaican beef patty burger that has been split and deep-fried. The ground beef patty, that is also made with shichimi togarashi (a Japanese seven-spice blend), is created with a boneless chicken breast that has been flattened, breaded, deep-fried, and doused with honey garlic sauce. As if the flavor wasn’t already engulfing your taste buds, two cheese slices (cheddar and Monterrey jack) are also added to this party-of-a-burger. To top it all of, there is buttermilk ranch slaw, tomato slices, shredded lettuce, and caramelized onions added with deliciously crunchy hickory sticks.
Bob’s Sumo Burger – This Japanese inspired burger starts with two pieces of spiced shichimi ogarashi seven spiced blend. The burger has a Sriracha mayo spread on top of the burger, and on the bottom you will find hoisin sauce. This burger has a normal sesame seed bun, and condiments include caramelized onions , tomato slices, shredded lettuce, cucumbers in wasabi mayo dressing, and topped off with chow mein noodles.
