- 1880’s: Fletcher Davis of Athens, Texas claimed to have invented the hamburger at his lunch counter.
- 1885: The Erie County Fair in Hamburg, New York claims Frank and Charles Menches invented hamburgers.
- 1885: Another claim is that Charlie Nagreen sold a meatball between two slices of bread at Wisconsin’s Seymour Fair.
- 1891: White Castle claims that Otto Kuase invented the hamburger.
- 1891: Yet another birthplace of the hamburger is at Tulsa, Oklahoma, invented by Oscar Weber Bilby.
- 1900: The New Haven, Connecticut claim is that Hamburgers were invented at a small lunch wagon called Louis’ Lunch by Louis Lassen.
